A typical day in the Reception Class PDF Print E-mail

A typical day in the Reception Class at Bute House can be summed up by the words inscribed on the door: ‘Welcome to Reception - where the fun begins!'

Twenty two happy, excited little people enter the classroom each morning with wide smiles and enthusiastic chit chat. One or two anxious parents are concerned that their ‘little one' might tire before the day is through because ‘she was awake and in her school uniform at 5.30am!'

A typical day in the Reception class is action packed and enormously exciting. The six main areas which embody the Foundation Stage are covered. They are namely: Communication, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Development, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Creative Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Physical Development.

The girls at Bute experience all of the above with expertise provided by specialist teachers. No two days are the same. Praise and encouragement are given in abundance and the careful nurturing of young minds is paramount. The Reception ‘babies', albeit young, are included in all school activities and even decision making.

A year in the Reception Class at Bute House is without doubt "the best possible start." (quote from The Good Schools Guide 7th Edition Lucas Publications 2001)
