The Lower School PDF Print E-mail

The Lower School is a bright and vibrant place where we harness the lively enthusiasm of our girls, providing positive and relevant learning experiences in a happy, supportive, non-competitive environment. We encourage and develop their skills for learning and celebrate their successes. All the Lower School classrooms are on the ground floor, with easy access to the garden and playground, although the girls also use all the facilities in the rest of the building. Teachers are specialists in the early years and the teaching of younger children.

The Lower School takes one hundred and twenty girls from age four  to eight, Reception to Year 3. There is one form of twenty-two girls in each of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and a three-form entry into Year 3 after the 7+ assessment, when thirty-eight additional girls are accepted, making a year group of sixty pupils.

Girls enter the school in Reception by 4+ ballot or in Year 3 by 7+ assessment. We very occasionally take girls at other levels if a place becomes available.
