In Year 3, after a very general assessment In December, we welcome an additional thirty-eight to forty girls to join our existing pupils. The new girls are mixed with our existing pupils and are then divided into three mixed-ability classes of approximately twenty girls. We go to great lengths to ensure that this transition is smooth and we recognise the importance of sensitive care for all the girls at this time. The girls have already met at our "Welcome to Bute House" workshop day and at the New Girls' Tea, and in many cases have started to build friendships through holiday play dates. The pupils are taught using a wide variety of styles and the latest technology. Lessons are well planned, structured and differentiated to ensure that the needs of every child are met. The girls will have their own class teacher for most of their lessons, with specialist teachers for the Arts, PE and French. Girls may also choose to have instrumental lessons in Year 3 and we offer tuition in a very wide variety of instruments from drums to violins and guitars! There are clubs on offer after school and on Wednesday afternoons. Year 3 girls are encouraged to help and set a good example to younger girls. They serve and clear tables at lunch time, look after others in the playground and rightly see themselves as very grown-up, important members of the Lower School. |
