The many Bute ensembles and groups are a valued part of the musical life at Bute. The girls work towards the termly concerts, school festivals and outside competitions and events. Girls can join their own year choir from Year 3 onwards as well as orchestra, wind band, brass ensemble, clarinet group, jazz band, flute choir, recorder orchestra and string ensemble. Repertoire is carefully selected to be fun, challenging and rewarding. Those who are in the first year of learning their instrument are encouraged to join smaller single instrument ensembles such as the keyboard ensemble , samba school, Flopsy String Quartet, Cool Clarinets and Sax Group , alongside more experienced players. Ensembles are coached by experienced specialist teachers and children are taught the craft of successful music-making alongside good performance etiquette and presentation as well as enjoying the fun of making music with others. For those girls who prefer to concentrate on their solo pieces, the Music Teas, concerts and class performances provide enjoyable opportunities to perform in front of a sympathetic and enthusiastic audience. Playing in ensembles is just one part of the lively musical experience to be had at Bute House. Please read the section on Music and Music Tuition to find out more. |
